3 DAYS OF TRAINING + 2 DAYS OF REGATTA
REGATTA COURSE
The regatta course includes intensive preparations and participation in one of the regattas.
Course Format
3 days of training + 2 days of regatta (and transfer)
Location: Punat + Kvarner
Sailing yacht: Elan E4 / E6 / Italia 9.98 / Pogo 36
Group: 4–6 participants
Schedule: 9–17 / regatta (8 h/day)
The sailing yacht on which the course will be held will be selected depending on the number of participants, weather conditions and availability.
What You Will Learn
- Adopt the complete start routine: acceleration, holding position on the line, pre-start procedure and start timing.
- Apply key racing rules (RRS 10–18) in upwind and mark-rounding situations, with safe and quick decisions.
- Increase speed and VMG through racing trim of mainsail and genoa and helm balance, while maintaining vessel stability during maneuvers.
- Safely handle the gennaker (hoisting/lowering/trimming) and perform clean tacks/gybes and mark roundings without loss of speed.
- Develop basic on-course tactics: when to maneuver, protecting the right side and "covering" opponents.
- Synchronize crew roles and communication and rotate through positions (helmsman, trimmer, bowman, pitman), including preparation for and participation in a local regatta.
